Stephenie Barker.hers.2018.Stephenie Barker has been a proud RE/MAX agent for 19 years and now calls RE/MAX Performance Group in Prosper home, having moved to the area in 2011 from the North Dallas area.  Having consulted a generation of buyers and sellers on their home buying and selling needs, she has additionally trained a legion of REALTORS in the DFW area.  She has made real estate part of her retirement through being an enthusiastic residential investor, and welcomes the opportunity to mentor anyone eager to diversify their portfolio with passive real estate income and principal appreciation.

Stephenie’s team consist of a select few she personally mentors to launch their own successful careers in real estate.  “My team started as a family real estate business,” Stephenie explained.  “My daughter Christina Parker joined me 7 years ago.  Together, we continue helping many families buy and sell.   My husband, Bill, and I own and manage residential properties, so we’re keenly tuned into the real estate market, on behalf of both owner-occupants and investors.”

Stephenie recently published The Little Copper Penny, a children’s book that teaches the importance of thrift, savings and self-worth.  It was immediately recognized and given the gold level of Mom’s Choice Award.  From a story emphasizing that “the pennies are important” she wrote ten years ago, Stephenie was named the Copper Penny Lady and has promoted the book through signings at stores, schools, and conducted writing workshops for elementary students.  She was recently featured on “Good Morning Texas” in a video profile about bullying.

In an interesting industry tie-in, acclaimed real estate coach Brian Buffini purchased 20 copies of the book while conducting his Success Tour seminar in the Metroplex during September as gifts to children for it’s “we all have value” messaging.  Brian said, “We have needed a good gift for kids in our business.”

“I’m having a great time watching the book’s success.  After I initially wrote it, the manuscript languished in a drawer for a decade before I found the encouragement, motivation and confidence to approach a publisher.  It’s been a terrific experience, and I hope all families with children, will find encouraging life-lessons and reaffirming values inside.”

In rare moments between helping her clients navigate real estate transactions, Stephenie speaks to women’s business groups about the process of writing for children at the elementary reading level.
